Muddling through the Mire
This morning when I woke up, it seemed as though it would be an easier day. The ambient temperature was pleasant enough and my WPI score wasn't too high.
I managed to have a shower and get ready to go in to work. It started well. We did some running about town on work errands and go the to office in good time, where I started to get some things done. I think I even got a lot accomplished, although I began to feel over stimulated when we had to work with numbers and make sure out takings from the recent fundraiser were balancing.
Numbers always hurt my head a bit, I find them daunting and many a time in school the subject of Mathematics reduced me to tears.
Interestingly, this trouble only began after I sustained that Mild Traumatic Brain Injury. Hmmm, I wonder if there's a connection...
Anyway, we muddled through and got things done, although the day passed by in a flash and my back and head began competing in their bit to gain my attention. I tried to pay them no mind.
It was a good day, but I was glad to be home.
By the end of the work day I felt as though I had been hit by a bus, and I don't even want to think about what that WPI would be now.
I have also noticed that its not only the WPI that is affected by the colder weather, but since the pain symptoms have increased, so too have the other symptoms that seem to come hand in hand with Fibromyalgia.
The IBS which has lift me alone for the most part, has made it more important than ever to be careful of what I eat, and the brain fog has started to spend more time surrounding my thoughts than it did a year ago.
Its an odd sensation feeling as though one is thinking through a mist, with time slowing down and the words people say to you not slowing to match the pace of your thoughts.
I sometimes think it makes me very difficult to communicate with.
I am looking forward to when my cognition improves, I know that will come with the summer, or even the spring.
In the spring I will also be able to start with light exercise again, which is something I have been missing.
It really amazes me how much of an impact the colder weather has on my body.
